Co-ordinator: Azhar Risyad (also Deputy VP of Events, azhar.risyad@indoprof.com)
Communication skills will undoubtedly remain an essential and key skill to stand out in today's working world. It is with this in mind that the Speech Sub-club is formed in March 2005 under the Indonesian Professionals’ Association (IPA) based in Singapore. In 2009, it formally became the IPA Toastmasters Club.
This club's main aim is to improve the members' speech and general communication skills through speaking opportunities created during our regular twice-monthly meetings. With the structure of the meeting modelled after the Toastmasters Clubs, our club meetings are characterised by a non-threatening environment created by our very fun and challenge-driven members who are always keen to learn from one another.
A typical meeting will have these components:
1. Opening Speech
2. Word of the Day
3. Prepared Speeches
4. Speech Evaluation
5. Table Topic Discussion
5. Language Evaluation
7. General Meeting Evaluation
Themes that we have previously explored at our meetings are: Battle of the Sexes, New Year Resolutions, A Balanced Life, Financial Freedom, Dreams and Hopes, Indonesian Election Day, and many more. Join us today for stimulating, life-enriching and life-changing discussions together with fellow Indonesian professionals keen to improve themselves in the leadership and public communication front!
