IPA was very honoured to invite Mr. Gita Wirjawan to give us an insight of the corporate world.

Here’s a summary of what he felt were important traits to be successful. There are basically two ingredients: EQ (Emotional Quotient) & Common Sense. He felt that it was more important to have good EQ, being able to express clear views, and being able to mix around with different people instead of having high IQ (Intelligent Quotient).

Common sense – though it sounds simple – is a powerful tool in making good decisions. He realised that many people merely followed the standard procedures to do things instead of using more common sense to achieve the objectives.

About the Speaker:

Mr. Gita Wirjawan is a Harvard graduate and is now working at Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment firm. When he first joined the company as the Vice President at the age of 36 a couple years ago, this large corporation was very skeptical about investing in Indonesia and was more supportive of investing in China which was showing strong growth. Mr. Wirjawan was instrumental in making the entire corporation see Indonesia with a different perspective. He had so far brought in over USD3 billion in investments in Indonesia in less than two years.
